Passengers irked over delayed flights at NAIA
MANILA – Several passengers were irked after they were stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) because of flight delays.
Some passengers stayed overnight at the NAIA terminals 3 and 4, while some coming from the provinces did not make it on time for their international flights.
The passengers also complained that the airline companies were not accommodating them properly.
The delays were due to regular maintenance of the NAIA's radar system.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said maintenance work was scheduled as early as last month but airline companies had requested that it be delayed to give them enough time to review and adjust their flight schedules.
The 30-hour maintenance work began October 23, 1 a.m. As a result, air traffic controllers limited the number of aircraft under its control to 11 arrivals and 11 departures per hour.
Operations at the NAIA went back to normal at 7 a.m. today. – report from Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News
