2 'agaw-motor' suspects killed in QC encounter
MANILA – Two of the three men who forcibly took a motorcycle were killed in an encounter with police on Thursday night in Quezon City.
Authorities have yet to identify the suspects who took Robert Codilla's motorcycle.
Codilla said he was teaching a female neighbor how to ride a motorcycle when three men riding-in-tandem on another motorbike approached them.
"Nag-aaral po kami ng motor, tinuturuan ko yung isang babae. Tumabi sa amin, nabigla ako sumagi sa isang FX [taxi] nakita kong bubunot kaya hindi ko na hinabol, tinawag ko na sa barangay," Codilla said.
The suspects then fled with his motorcycle and female neighbor. However, they were cornered by policemen along Peria Street in Barangay Old Balara.
One of the suspects even entered a residential compound and hid behind a convenience store.
"Nakatakbo sa isang bahay doon pa nagtago so hindi pa natin alam kung nasaan ang mga kasama nila," said Police Superintendent Eleazar Matta, chief of the Quezon City Police District Station 6.
The other suspect managed to escape.
Codilla's female neighbor is safe and undergoing investigation.
Authorities recovered two .38 calibre guns from the two suspects. Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
