Bus terminals brace for holiday travelers
MANILA, Philippines -- Bus terminals in Metro Manila are getting more crowded with people catching trips to the provinces for two long weekends.
More policemen have been deployed for additional security as more travelers are expected to come in because of Monday's barangay polls and the All Saints Day holiday.
Most buses are already fully-booked and the volume of passengers has caused traffic jams in parts of EDSA.
The congestion was made worse by road repairs of the public works and highways department.
The MMDA says, it is ready to assist motorists who will be affected by the so-called “mega road reblocking” which spans from Pasay City to Monumento in Caloocan.
It began early Saturday and will end Tuesday morning.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino is appealing to the public for understanding.
"Pinagbiyan ho ito para isahan nalang para Disyembre harinawa wala nang gagawin... Iwasan muna ‘yung area, mag C5 Mindanao Avenue at SLEX,” said Tolentino. -- ANC
