MANILA - Authorities seized an estimated P700,000 worth of firecrackers at Pier 2 of the Manila North Harbor Wednesday night.

Security personnel of Negros Navigation said they seized 150 boxes of firecrackers onboard the MV San Rafael, which was bound for Palawan. They said the firecrackers were hidden inside paint cans to avoid detection.

The Philippine Coast Guard has warned the public not to bring firecrackers onboard passenger vessels.

Last week, a PCG enforcement team in Lucena City confiscated P480,000 worth of assorted firecrackers from a passenger.
