The Land Transportation Office on Thursday seized 10 AUVs on Daang Hari Road, Cavite province as part of the agency's crackdown on colorum vehicles.

In a Quezon City forum, LTO chief Alberto Suansing said the 10 vehicles were plying the Molino, Cavite to Makati route and back without a franchise. "They were surprised because we used private vehicles in the dawn raid. Usually, they know we're coming even before we get there," he told reporters.

He said unlicensed radios found in the vehicles will be turned over to the National Telecommunications Commission.

Suansing said the LTO has received complaints from jeepney drivers that colorum vehicles were eating into their profits. "We want to help these public utility vehicles with legitimate franchises to earn a decent living," he said.

He said some of the colorum vehicle drivers are private vehicle owners who like to earn a profit before going to work in Makati.
