3 suspects in Ram Revilla slay arrested
MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - Police are now in custody of 3 suspects in the murder of aspiring actor-politician Ramgen “Ram” Bautista Revilla, son of former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr.
Police arrested on Monday Michael Cruz Altia and Roy Francis Tolisora, alleged hired killers who reportedly wore Halloween masks when they entered Ram's house and killed him and shot his girlfriend, Janelle Manahan.
The third suspect was not identified.
Parañaque City police chief Sr. Supt. Billy Beltran said the 3 suspects are now under their custody while 3 or 4 more suspects remain at large.
Beltrain said it is possible that the killer was among those arrested.
He explained that only 1 or 2 suspects entered the victim's house, while the rest were involved in planning the murder.
"Doon sa insidente ay maaaring 1 hanggang 2, pero sa pagpaplano ng buong pangyayari, maaaring abutin ng 6 hanggang 7," Beltran said in an interview on dzMM.
He added some of the suspects were also Parañaque residents.
Investigators earlier said they are looking into the possibility that a relative was the mastermind behind the killing of Revilla.
Cavite Mayor Strike Revilla, the victim’s half brother, said this will be a big blow to the family if it turns out to be true.
Nonetheless, they will not protect their relative if proven that he or she is the mastermind, the older Revilla said.
Ram was shot and stabbed dead in his house in Phase 6, BF Homes in Parañaque City before midnight on Friday.
Manahan is now recovering at the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
According to Ram's sister, Ramona, the suspects first shot Janelle and then shot and stabbed Ram 11 times.
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. offered on Saturday a P500,000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest of those involved in the killing of his half-brother. – With reports from Ricky Velasco, dzMM; Zyann Ambrosio and Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
