MANILA, Philippines – Five alleged robbers were killed in an encounter with police in Quezon City on Tuesday evening.
Three of the unidentified suspects died instantly after exchanging fires with policemen along Fairlane Street in Barangay Commonwealth.
Two other alleged robbers were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Police said the suspects robbed a surplus shop of two laptops and a cellphone.
The suspects were caught in the act by roving policemen, resulting in the shootout.
Police recovered three guns from the suspects, who also wore multiple shirts.
A grenade was also found near the surplus shop. Witnesses said the grenade was thrown by a female cohort of the suspects who was able to escape. – report from Jacque Manabat, dzMM
