Balikbayan found dead in Manila
MANILA – An overseas Filipino worker was found dead in Port Area, Manila on Wednesday evening.
Israh Salim Piang, 25, who worked as a domestic helper in Kuwait, was found dead inside her husband's house along Block 9, Baseco Compound at around 9 p.m. yesterday.
Piang, who returned to the Philippines about two weeks ago, sustained gunshot wounds to her neck and chest.
Police investigators said the house was in disarray, suggesting that a physical confrontation occurred before the shooting.
According to Rowena Tanny, Israh's cousin, the victim was staying in Cotabato and only went to Manila to visit her two children.
Israh's estranged husband, Ben Adzad Piang, was accused of killing his wife. He was caught holding a revolver while trying to escape.
Ben admitted that he uses and sells illegal drugs, which is why his wife wanted to separate from him.
Police are now checking whether Ben was involved in several crimes in Baseco and his home town of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. – report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
