2 snatchers fall in Quezon City
MANILA – Two men were arrested for snatching the bag of a woman in Quezon City.
The suspects were identified as Jhun dela Cruz and Bryan dela Cruz. They are not related to each other.
The suspects tried to pin one another as the mastermind behind the incident.
"Driver ako hindi ko alam na kukunin nya. Nagulat ako kinuha nya," said suspect Bryan.
But suspect Jhun said he was just ordered by Bryan to commit the crime.
"Sinabihan nya po ako na kunin ko kasi kailangan niya ng pera," he said.
Their modus operandi was caught on surveillance camera.
In the video, the suspects were seen parking their tricycle along the road in Barangay Santol, pretending to wait for passengers.
"Nagaabang sila tapos may nakita silang may dalang bag kinuha nila. Yung biktima kinaladkad," said Police Superintendent Victor Pagulayan, Chief of the Galas Police.
The victim, a female missionary, is recuperating in a hospital after being dragged during the incident.
The suspects were immediately apprehended by patrolling policemen.
The victim's bag, containing cash amounting to P3,500, a digicam and a bible, was recovered from the suspects.
Police said this is the second snatching incident to happen in the area in just one week. Report from Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
