Makati to hold job fair, bazaar on Friday
MANILA, Philippines – A mega job fair and discount caravan will be conducted by the city government of Makati on Friday, November 9 at the City Hall Quadrangle as part of the birthday celebration of Vice President Jejomar Binay and his wife, former Makati Mayor Elenita Binay.
Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay called on jobseekers and bargain hunters from all over Metro Manila to participate and grab job opportunities and discounted consumer products.
“We invite our residents and the general public to avail themselves of the chance to land gainful employment and get substantial discounts on consumer goods. Through these events, we aim to bring early Christmas cheer and make my parents’ birthday celebration meaningful,” Binay said in a press statement.
The event was organized by the Makati Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Makati Poblacion, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Over 60 companies and industry leaders will participate in the job fair while around 30 companies will sell consumer goods at discounted prices.
Participating companies in the job fair include Ateneo de Manila University, Abenson, AB & N Manpower, Andok’s Litson, Brothers Burger, Celine Marketing, Dunkin Donuts, Mc Donalds, Eurotiles, Eperformax, Goldilocks, Mirof Resources, NCO, SM Department Store, SM Supermarket, Prime Manpower, Philippine Survey Research Center, Shopwise, Convergys, Aegis People Support, French Baker, United Royale Corporation, Watson Personal Care Store, Toby’s Sports, Sykes Asia, Bench, and Lamoiyan Philippines.
Among the companies and establishments that will take part in the discount caravan are Botika ng Bayan, San Miguel Corporation, Frabelle, Mekeni Food Corporation, Tentay Products, Silver Swan, Marca Leon, Victoria Foods Corporation, Marissa’s Foods, Hapee Toothpaste, Unilever Philippines, SBM Soap, Diana’s Bibingka, Mark Daniels, Gardenia, Julie’s Bakeshop, Jahz Footware, C Point Shoes, Bob Mars Shoes, Jam’s Bags, Vedasco Lethergoods, Nestle Philippines, Magnolia, and Tipas Hopia.
Officials from DOLE and DTI are expected to attend the opening program of the event.
Representatives from PRC will also be around to assist applicants who need to renew their PRC license.
The Makati-PESO regularly implements employment assistance programs to provide better livelihood opportunities to residents and non-residents.
The Makati-PESO also holds the “Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Disadvantaged Workers” (TUPAD) during Christmas season; Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) and Government Internship Program (GIP) during summer; and Career Guidance for High School Students, and Labor Education for Graduating College Students (LEGS).
It also offers free technical and vocational courses through the Makati Training Placement and Livelihood Consortia at the University of Makati.
