San Beda kicks out 27, suspends 8 fratmen
MANILA, Philippines -- The San Beda College of Law has approved the expulsion of 27 members of the Lex Leonum Fraternity over the hazing incident that killed first year San Beda Law student Marc Andrei Marcos in July.
The Committee on Student Conduct only suspended eight others after they showed remorse over their participation on the incident and their violation of the college's Code of Conduct.
Three of the eight will be suspended for 21 school days and required to render 72 hours of community service. The five others who cooperated in the investigation will be suspended for seven school days and required to render 36 hours of community service.
Meanwhile, one student was cleared of charges.
Marcos died after allegedly undergoing the hazing rites of Lex Leonum Fraternity in Dasmariñas, Cavite on July 30. -- Report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
