6 'Ipit Gang' members arrested
MANILA, Philippines – Six suspected members of a robbery group victimizing bus passengers along EDSA have been arrested by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)-Task Force Takipsilim.
Five of the suspects, who are allegedly members of the "Ipit Gang", were arrested on October 30 at the loading bay of SM Megamall after robbing Allan Ondit inside a Fermex bus, TF Takipsilim chief retired Gen. Maximo Dilla said in a press statement on Tuesday.
The robbers were identified as Jaymar Adanza, 28; Ramil Ramos, 23; Arvin Cainglet, 24; Alex Cuadra, 24; and Jun Puerto, 42.
Ondit said the five men pushed and squeezed him while boarding the bus. He was robbed of his Apple iPhone 4s mobile phone.
The victim then asked help from TF Takipsilim traffic constables posted at the loading bay.
The task force personnel immediately responded and arrested the five robbers. Recovered from them was Ondit's mobile phone worth P30,000.
A certain Eric Guiroy, another alleged member of the "Ipit Gang", was also arrested in a separate operation on November 2.
Guiroy was allegedly one of four men who robbed a janitor inside an AC Trans Bus at the bus stop of Robinson's Galleria mall.
