Blast in front of QC church injures 1
MANILA - One person was injured after a suspected grenade exploded in front of a church in Quezon City past noon Sunday.
A Honda Civic car owned by Joel Abellana was damaged in the blast in front of the United Methodist Church in Kamuning area. The car’s windshield was shattered by the explosion. The owner said he was inside the church during the blast.
Initial police investigation said that fragments from the blast indicated that it was caused by a grenade.
The blast happened as many Filipinos were waiting for the coverage of the fight that People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao won against Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.
Atty. Ramon Molina, who was also a member of the church, was the lone person injured in the blast. He was immediately taken to St. Luke’s Medical Center for treatment.
Police said they are investigating if Molina was the target of the blast.
