Korean, Filipina lover nabbed in 'ecstasy' raid
MANILA - A Korean national and his Filipina live-in partner were arrested for possession of ecstasy pills in a raid at their condominium unit along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, late Thursday night.
Suspects Seung Keem and Almar Mercado admitted that they are ecstasy users, but the Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (PNP-AIDSOTF) believes they are suppliers.
Superintendent Leonardo Suan of the PNP-AIDSOTF said they recovered at least five plastic sachets containing more than a dozen ecstasy pills during the raid at the couple's condominium unit.
Also recovered were capsules of herbal drug-like ecstasy and 3 bottles of ketamine, an emerging drug among club goers.
The couple said all items recovered from their unit were for "personal consumption."
Suan, however, said the couple were placed under surveillance for almost three weeks and they found out that the two have been supplying ecstasy in clubs in Quezon City and Makati City.
Charges for possession of illegal drugs are being readied against the couple. -- Report from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
