ADB staff's son involved in Ebarle killing classified 'dangerous'
MANILA - Police were hunting down the son of a British economist working for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in connection with the road rage killing of a Malacañang official's son in Quezon City on Wednesday night.
In a directive to police district offices in Metro Manila, National Police chief Director General Jesus Verzosa ordered an all out manhunt of Jason Ivler, son of British Stephen Pollard, an economist working for the ADB.
Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego, Quezon City Police District chief, said in a report to Verzosa that Pollard was expected to appear before his office on Friday morning.
San Diego said Pollard has promised to help the police look for his son.
He reported that they have information that Ivler is still in Metro Manila on board an ADB registered Honda CRV 1998 model with diplomatic plate number 20903.
The police director said Ivler is believed to be in possession of a .45 pistol and has been "classified dangerous."
Police believe that it was the same gun used by Ivler in the killing of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., son of Undersecretary Renato Ebarle who works for the Office of the Presidential chief of staff.
Ebarle died of three gunshot wounds in the body. He was found slumped on the driver's seat of his Toyota Land Cruiser along Boni Serrano Avenue in Quezon City.
Superintendent Ferdinand Ampil, chief of the Quezon City police's Station 7, said that based on the accounts of several witnesses, the gunman was a foreigner who was on board a blue wagon with diplomatic plate number 20903.
Ampil added that the gunman, described to be between 25 to 30 years old, has a tattoo on his right arm.
He said the foreigner got irked and shot Ebarle three times after a traffic altercation.
He said several people saw the gunman get off a blue wagon and shoot Ebarle three times through his vehicle's windshield.
Relatives said Ebarle had just left his girlfriend's home and was already on his way home when the incident happened.
The ADB has denied Pollard's involvement in the killing after police traced the diplomatic vehicle to the British economist.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has refused to comment on the liability of ADB officials or their children or relatives in such incidents, saying it's too premature. -- Report from Noel Alamar, radio dzMM

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday released the results of the ballistic tests on the handgun used by Jason Aguilar Ivler in both the November 18 killing of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. and during the shootout with NBI operatives last Monday.
The bullet taken from the body of Ebarle Jr., son of Palace official Renato Ebarle Sr., the bullets found and taken by police from the vehicle of Ebarle Jr. last November 18 , and the bullets found in the residence of Ivler's mother, Marlene Aguilar, in Blue Ridge, Quezon City matched with the test bullets from the Kimber .45 caliber pistol recovered from Ivler during the encounter last Monday with arresting NBI agents.
Ivler allegedly shot dead Ebarle Jr. following a traffic altercation near the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Ivler was shot and injured during Monday's encounter with NBI operatives. He is currently recuperating at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. -- report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News

TOM C3c ADB staff do not employ expat drivers, they either drive them selves or they have filipinos... please note the person who shot the man, is a filipino.. not a ADB employee.. There are many ADB employees, who arrive in the philippines, happily married with kids, and after 5 years, the wifes cant stand it and go home, and then the men remarry, and then the problems really begin..
The filipinas , who marry these men, think that they are above the law, and they misuse the privileges , given to ADB. However, by rights ADB, should really be based in another more up and coming east asian country, it is in the philippines, and without it the philippines would be a much poorer place
