MANILA – Two persons were wounded in a grenade explosion in Pasay City Saturday night, authorities said.

The victims, identified as Arnel Villaruel and Antonio de Jesus, were rushed to a hospital where they underwent operations.

Authorities and witnesses said a grenade was thrown into Villaruel’s house in Daop Palad while they were drinking around 10 p.m.

De Jesus' sister, Maribel Aguilar, said his brother was still able to get out of the house despite his wounds.

May sumabog daw. Nakalabas pa siya. nakatakbo pa siya,” said Aguilar.

A neighbor recounted that he was awakened by the explosion. He said when he saw his neighbors fleeing, he initially thought that there was a fire.

Akala namin sunog.

Investigators said they are now determining the motive for the attack. Report from Wheng Hidalgo, ABS-CBN News
