215 land titles awarded to QC settlers
MANILA, Philippines – Vice President and housing czar Jejomar Binay on Monday announced that a total 215 land titles were distributed to qualified beneficiaries of the National Government Center (NGC) – West Side Housing Project in Quezon City.
This is the sixth batch of awardees of the housing project after a total of 315 titles were released this year, according to Binay, who also chairs the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
Binay said the beneficiaries who received their land titles observed the structural limits in the community, located in Barangay Commonwealth.
He also encouraged other beneficiaries who have yet to receive their titles to complete the installment payment of their units.
“I encourage all the beneficiaries of this project with existing contracts to sell to update your accounts and religiously pay your monthly dues,” Binay said in a statement.
“Siguro naman ay malinaw na bago mapasainyo ang mga titulong ito, may mga alituntunin at patakaran na dapat gawin at sundin. Kasama riyan ang pagsunod sa re-blocking ayon sa naaprubahang subdivision plan, at ang actual occupancy o tunay na pagtira sa loteng naigawad o nailaan sa inyo,” he added.
The housing project started under the administration of former President Corazon Aquino through Presidential Proclamation 137.
The housing project’s purpose was to secure the land tenure of urban poor residents.
The HUDCC hopes to distribute 500 land titles next year.
