MANILA, Philippines - A total of 44 foreigners, mostly Chinese and Taiwanese, were subjected to inquest proceedings at the Department  of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday for alleged credit card fraud.

The suspects, most of them in their early 20s, were arrested during 2 separate raids by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Don Antonio Heights and White Plains subdivisions in Quezon City on November 27.

Seized from them were scheming devices used in the production of fake credit cards.

The suspects allegedly illegally obtain personal data of credit card holders via the internet, hack into online purchases using credit cards, and use the same data in the production of fake versions of the authentic credit cards.

The suspects face charges of violations of Republic Act (RA) No. 8484, also known as the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998.
