GPS tracker leads cops to hijacked delivery vehicles

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested 4 men for hijacking delivery vehicles carrying toothpaste and shampoo products on Tuesday.

Police identified the suspects as Christian Candelario, 30; Paulo Izumi, 23; Rogelio Temporosa, 21; and Ruel Flores, 26, residents of Sampaloc and Tondo districts in Manila.

Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, Metro Manila police chief, said the suspects were arrested after hijacking an Isuzu Canter and an Isuzu Elft truck, carrying boxes of Colgate and Palmolive products.

Bartolome said the suspects were intercepted at Mendiola Extension in Paco, Manila.

He said policemen were able to track down the hijacked vehicles through the global positioning system (GPS) tracker installed on them.

Meanwhile, police said the Isuzu van's driver identified as Joven dela Cruz, has yet to be located. It was not clear if Dela Cruz is being considered as a suspect.
