Suspect in LBC robbery arrested
MANILA, Philippines – One of the suspects in a series of robbery incidents at LBC branches in Metro Manila has been arrested by police authorities.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Ruel Herabas, was arrested after robbing an LBC branch in Matalino Street, Barangay Central in Quezon City on Friday.
Col. Marcelino Pedroso, chief of Quezon City Police Station 10, said they were alerted by bystanders in the area after a child managed to escape from the LBC branch.
Recovered from the suspect were a .38 caliber pistol and bullets, cash worth P1,651, and a surgical mask which he uses to cover his face.
Herabas was then presented by the police to the victims, who confirmed that he was indeed the suspect behind the LBC robbery incidents.
Herabas, meanwhile, admitted committing the crimes. He said he started robbing LBC branches last September after he lost his job.
The suspect also reportedly chose LBC branches because they usually do not have security guards.
Police said Herabas has already robbed at least six LBC branches in Metro Manila including the ones in Pantranco, Del Monte, Dapitan and España.
Authorities are still investigating if the suspect was also the one behind the robbery incidents at two LBC branches in Las Piñas City last November 16.
Police said Herabas will undergo inquest proceedings later today. -- Reports from Robert Mano and Dennis Datu, dzMM
