MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - Two Far Eastern University (FEU) students died while another is now fighting for his life after they were shot by unknown assailants in front of their campus in Manila Tuesday evening.

One of the fatalities, Gerald Ramos, 21, was rushed to the UST Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

The second victim, 17-year-old Juan Paulo Nepomuceno, died around 10 p.m. following attempts to save his life.

The lone survivor, 18-year-old Adrian Joseph Santiago, underwent treatment after being shot in the back. He is now in stable condition in Mary Chiles General Hospital.

They were coming from a practice and decided to buy street food when three men suddenly approached the victims and shot them at around 7:30 p.m.

Police are eyeing a fraternity war as the possible reason behind the shooting. However, they noted that the victims were members of the university's drums and bugle band.

Police are still investigating the case. - reports from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News; Arnell Ozaeta, dzMM
