MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday confiscated misdeclared vegetables at the Manila International Container Port.
Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon said the products, declared as apples and houseware, were from China and were estimated to cost P7.5 million.
The potatoes were consigned to Marbatan Enterprises and Green Meadows Enterprises while the fresh carrots were consigned to Rorumen Agricultural Products.
Aside from misdeclaration, the consignees failed to present a permit from the Department of Agriculture (DA).
They may face charges for violating Customs Tariff Codes. -- Report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
