MANILA, Philippines -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) discovered on Sunday an alleged laboratory for the manufacture of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride ) in a condominium unit in Pasig City.

The NBI-National Capital Region raided the unit after receiving a report from the condominium management last December 27 about foul-smelling fumes emanating from the room in the 24th floor of the condominum located at Javier Street in Barangay Oranbo.

The building’s management said the unit is supposed to be empty since its last tenant has already left last October.

Allegedly seized from the raid were equipment for shabu production aside from finished and unfinished shabu. Also purportedly recovered were precursors of shabu used in the drug production.

Authorities have yet to estimate the worth of shabu found.

NBI-NCR chief Edward Villarta said they have already identified the group operating the laboratory but declined to reveal names pending a follow-up operation.
