Tropical depression "Auring" on Monday shifted its course to the northeast and is moving out of the country, weather bureau PAGASA said.

A 10 a.m. PAGASA report said Auring was spotted 300 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar and was moving northeast at 14 kilometers per hour. The tropical depression is packing 55 kph winds, according to PAGASA.

The weather disturbance is forecast to reach 500 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes by Tuesday morning and 910 km east northeast of the province Wednesday morning.

PAGASA said the surge of the northeast monsoon is expected to affect the northern seaboard of extreme Northern Luzon.

Thousands of people were stranded in several ports in Visayas and Southern Luzon after the Philippine Coast Guard cancelled sea travel Sunday due to stormy seas enhanced by Auring.

In Allen, Northern Samar, 6,352 people were reported stranded at Looc and Dapdap ports together with 95 light vehicles, 102 buses, 84 trucks and six passenger vessels. The Looc and Dapdap resumed operations at 6:30 p.m. Sunday after PAGASA lifted the storm signal in the province.

In Southern Leyte, 210 passengers were stranded at the Liloan Port. Also inside the port area were seven light vehicles, three buses, six trucks and four passenger vessels. Ferry operations at Liloan Port resumed operations at 6:25 p.m. Sunday.
