Two kids die in Ormoc due to diarrhea

TACLOBAN CITY – The regional office of the Department of Health has confirmed that diarrhea caused the death of two children in Sitio Veserio in Manlilinao Village in Ormoc City.
DOH said that other residents in the area also suffered from diarrhea starting January 3. Thirty one were admitted in Ormoc District Hospital.
Boyd Cerro, DOH Regional Sentinel Nurse, said the outbreak must have come from the water source of the residents.
“Although their water source is a developed spring, the rains during the weekends might have contaminated it, “said Cerro.
Health authorities immediately sent fluids and medicines to affected residents and treated the water source in the community. Residents were further advised to boil their drinking water.
DOH further announced that the outbreak is now under control.
