MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area east of the country has developed into a tropical depression, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday night.
The new storm was named Tropical Depression Bising.
It was last spotted 170 kilometers east of Eastern Samar.
It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and is expected to move northwest at 19 kilometers per hour.
Bising will traverse the east coast of Luzon and will be east of Infanta, Quezon Saturday night and east of Aparri, Cagayan by Sunday night.
Storm signal number 1 is up over Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon, as well as Northern, Western and Eastern Samar.
Residents in the said provinces are advised to prepare for heavy rains and possible floods. - ANC
