Storm signal no. 1 still up in Catanduanes due to 'Bising'
MANILA, Philippines -- Public storm warning signal number 1 due to tropical depression "Bising" has been lifted on seven areas Saturday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said signal number 1 has been lifted on Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Western Samar and Eastern Samar.
However, storm signal number 1 remains hoisted in Catanduanes, as the area would experience winds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour (kph), PAGASA said.
Bising was last spotted 215 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, and was moving northwest at 17 kph.
It has maintained its strength, still packing maximum winds of 45 kph near the center.
"Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," PAGASA said.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts were advised not to venture out into the seaboards of northern and central Luzon and over the seaboards of southern Luzon and Visayas due to Bising and the northeast monsoon (amihan).
Estimated rainfall is 5 to 15 millimeters per hour (moderate - heavy) within the storm's 300-km diameter.
