25-ha marijuana plantation discovered in N. Luzon
MANILA, Philippines - Authorities have discovered a 25-hectare marijuana plantation that lies between the boundaries of La Union, Benguet and Ilocos Sur provinces.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said they discovered the vast marijuana plantation in coordination with teams from the police, military and the National Bureau of Investigation.
Roberto Opena, PDEA Region 1 director, said that clearing operations under "Oplan Farmville" of the marijuana plantation started Wednesday.
Opena said at least 2 hectares of the plantation in Barangay Sapdaan, Santol town in La Unioin have been cleared of marijuana plants. He said they expect the operatives to finish uprooting the marijuana plants in 3 more days.
