23 suspected of anthrax in Abra
MANILA, Philippines – The number of suspected cases of anthrax in Lagangilang, Abra has risen to 23.
According to a report by the Abra Health Office in the Cordillera Administrative Region, the cases were recorded from January 17 to 24 this year in Barangays Kayapa, Bakook and Paganaw.
The victims ate the double dead meat of a carabao, after which they exhibited symptoms of anthrax such as skin rashes, sore muscles, stomach pains and headaches. They also had difficulty breathing, and developed sore throats and dry cough.
The victims were brought to the Abra Provincial Hospital. Fortunately, most of have felt well enough to be able to go home.
