Magnitude 6.0 quake jolts Catanduanes

MANILA, Philippines – A shallow 6.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Virac town in Catanduanes province, before dawn Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The Phivolcs said the quake struck 156 kilometers northeast of Virac town at 2:49 a.m.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Virac town and Naga City and Intensity 2 in Legazpi City in Albay province, Cabid-an in Sorsogon and Guinayangan in Quezon province.
Exactly a week ago, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck northeast off the coast of Virac at 10:02 a.m. There were no reported damages from the earthquake.
