Quake jolts Cagayan town

MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted the town of Calayan, Cagayan Saturday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said that the earthquake, which is tectonic in origin, occurred at 12:46 p.m.

No damages or casualties were reported from the quake that hit 59 kilometers northwest of Calayan.

Intensity 5 was felt in Calayan while intensity 4 was felt in Pasuquin, Sarrat and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Ballesteros and Claveria, Cagayan.

Intensity 2, meanwhile, was felt in Callao, Penablanca, Cagayan; Lubuagan, Kalinga and intensity 1 in Sinait, Ilocos Sur. -- Report from Randy Menor, ABS-CBN News Ilocos
