COTABATO – A store went up in flames while two people were hurt when a bomb exploded near the establishment along the National Highway corner Rizal Street in Kabacan, Cotabato on Wednesday night.

Wounded during the explosion were Rico Alepante Salve, security guard of Sugni Super Store; and Gil John Pamulera Langreo, 16.

According to the Kabacan police, a suspicious package was found on top of an LPG tank outside the store owned by a certain Dr. Balungay around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

During the inspection of the package, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel found it to contain a rather “heavy” item.

They decided to place a disruptor on the package but it went off around 8:20 p.m.

Fire volunteers responded and put out the blaze around 9:20 p.m.

The EOD team also requested forensic experts from Kidapawan to process the scene and find out what kind of explosive was placed inside the package.
