2 die, 6 injured in Camarines Sur bus accident
MANILA, Philippines – Two persons died while 6 others were seriously injured after a passenger bus crashed into several trees in Camarines Sur.
The road accident, which occurred Saturday evening at Sitio Puktol in Sibuho Village in Libmanan town in Camarines Sur, involved a Raymond Bus with plate number DVN 606 and body number 9188.
According to local police, bus driver Robert Tombado, 39 years old of Balatan in Camarines Sur, lost control of the transport vehicle while traversing a series of curves along Maharlika Highway.
Police investigation showed that the bus first hit 2 acacia trees before crashing to a stop as it hit a third acacia tree, just a few meters away from a local eatery.
No one was injured among the bystanders at the eatery at the time of the incident.
Libmanan deputy police chief Noel Abay said that the bus, which was bound for Tinambac town from Sampaloc district in Manila, had just stopped at the adjacent town of Sipocot and picked up some passengers. The new passengers were from another bus of Raymond Bus Lines which stalled due to engine trouble.
Authorities, however, have yet to determine the identities of the two casualties.
One of the fatalities is a male with an estimated age of 50 years old, 5 feet 4 inches in height and was wearing a black undershirt and jeans. Police said that P24,800 in cash was found with the male fatality.
The female fatality, meanwhile. is estimated to be 30 years old, and is at least 5 feet 1 inch and was wearing a white T-shirt, chequered pants and a yellow jacket.
Two of those seriously injured were brought to the Bicol Medical Center for treatment. They were identified as Randy Buena, 21 of San Francisco Del Monte in Quezon City and Ruben Narito of Sipocot town in Camarines Sur.
