Kidnapped Russian-Canadian boy, nanny freed
MANILA – The 1-year-old Russian-Canadian boy and his 17-year-old babysitter who was kidnapped in Pagadian City in Mindanao have been freed by their captors, authorities said.
Supt. Jonas Amparo, chief of Ozamis City Police Office, said the victims were found inside a mall in Ozamis City at around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Authorities have yet to determine if the boy’s family paid the P50 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
The victims were taken at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday while they were having a stroll in Rosario Homes Subdivision in Barangay Dao.
They were forced to board a blue car and brought by still unidentified suspects to an unknown direction.
The parents of the boy, who are reportedly in the business of buying and selling gold and silver, refused to be interviewed by the media. -- Report from Ronnie Enderes, ABS-CBN News Iligan
