ZAMBOANGA, Philippines - Two Malaysian-Chinese businessmen were abducted in Sabah, Malaysia on Monday and brought to Mindanao.

Chen Yui Chung, 48 years old, and Lai Wong Chung, 46 years old, were allegedly abducted February 8 by a Sulu-based Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) headed by Albader Parad at Sipangkat island, Samporna in the state of Sabah.

The kidnappers reportedly fled with the 2 Malaysian-Chinese towards the town of Sibutu in Tawi-Tawi province aboard motorized pumpboats powered by 2 outboard engines.

Superintendent Mipunod Maruhon, Tawi-Tawi police director, said the two victims are in Mindanao.

Chief Inspector Cerrazid Umabong, meanwhile, said the Marine Brigade Landing Team-23 is patrolling areas as far as the island of Salaug, Tawi-Tawi in response to the report, but it so far failed to get information.

He said government troops are still in the area monitoring the developments. -- report from Queenie Casimiro, ABS-CBN Zamboanga

Sabah.... Malaysia?

ABS-CBN and the rest of the Philippine media should stop refering to Sabah as "Sabah, Malaysia" because this implies our acceptance that Sabah, is indeed a legal territory of the Malaysian state.

when referring to Sabah, its more politically correct to call it just Sabah or North Borneo. Although Malaysia has full control of the territory, the fact is that the Philippines has a legal and pending sovereignty claim for the territory and this can not just be ignored.

as of late, the Philippines never relinquished her territorial claims over the territory.

Hmmmm

This makes me think that these ASG men are being handled by politicians who are trying to raise their campaign funds
