MANILA, Philippines - A high school student died and another was injured when a bus ran over them during a field trip at Camp Mateo Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal on Friday afternoon.

Fourteen-year-old Rio Bianca Ramirez was declared dead on arrival, while 15-year-old Pamela Enriquez remains at the Capitol Medical Center.

Bus driver Carlos Ruelan Villanueva, 63, stepped down to put water in the radiator. The bus moved, however, and ran over the two students.

Authorities said the students were facing the opposite direction, listening to a lecture from Army officials. They did not notice the oncoming bus.

Villanueva is now in the custody of the Philippine National Police-Tanay. He asked not to comment after being warned by his employers.
