NDRRMC: Negros quake death toll rises to 41

MANILA, Philippines – The death toll from Monday's strong earthquake that hit Visayas has risen to 41.

In its bulletin issued at 8 a.m on Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also said 67 people remain missing.

Twenty eight of them are from Guihulngan and 39 are from La Libertad, where retrieval operations continue.

Meanwhile, NDRRMC said there were 54 people who got injured -- 12 in Jimalalud and 42 in Guihulngan.

The government has provided over P21 million worth of relief assistance for earthquake victims.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has recorded 1,514 aftershocks, 90 of which were felt.
