COTABATO CITY, Philippines - A police escort of the Assistant Treasurer of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was killed on Sunday evening.

Police Officer 3 Salipudin Haron, 43, was shot dead by 2 motorcycle-riding gunmen along Sinsuat Avenue at around 6:30 p.m.

Haron served as a police escort to ARMM Assistant Treasurer Sahad Sambutuan.

The motive behind the murder has yet to be determined. Police believe the suspects used an M-16 armalite rifle in killing Haron.

Haron’s body, meanwhile, was immediately brought to his residence for Muslim burial rites.

The victim’s family also refused to comment on the incident. Haron’s uncle, however, described PO3 Haron as religious person, and has no grudge against anybody.
