MANILA, Philippines – Two large crocodiles, a male and a female, have been caught in a river in the town of Bataraza, Palawan.
The female crocodile measuring 10 feet was caught Monday night while the male crocodile measuring 16 feet was caught early Tuesday.
The reptiles were turned over to a crocodile farm in Puerto Princesa.
The crocodiles in the area have begun to sow fear among the locals. The residents said a fisherman was recently bitten by a crocodile.
The Philippine Wildlife Resource and Conservation Center, meanwhile, said that the crocodiles only surface because their natural habitat is being threatened.
The captured creatures were named “Valentino” and “Valentina”. -- Report from Butch Mendizabal, ABS-CBN News Palawan
