Rainy week ahead: PAGASA
MANILA, Philippines – The entire Philippines will experience rains for the rest of the week as a new low pressure area is expected to enter the country within the next 24 hours, weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.
Speaking to dzMM, PAGASA weather forecaster Nikos Peñaranda said the combined effects of the easterlies, or the winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, and a low pressure area (LPA) will bring rains over most parts of the country.
Peñaranda said it will be particularly rainy over the southern portion of the country, where the LPA is expected to land within the next 24 hours.
In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA said it last spotted the LPA 1,200 kilometers east southeast of Mindanao.
Peñaranda, however, said the LPA is not expected to intensify into a full-blown weather disturbance.
Peñaranda particularly warned residents living in low-lying areas in the eastern section of Mindanao and Visayas to brace for continuous rains. Landslides and flashfloods are expected.
“Aasahan natin itong bandang Mindanao, kabisayaan, bago magtapos itong linggo, so mga Thursday o Friday, maari pong mas maging maulan,” he said.
