MANILA, Philippines – The body of a 12-year-old boy, who was apparently stabbed 21 times, was found in a vacant lot in Davao City.

The victim, identified as Marvin Bactong, was stabbed 21 times in his back. His body was discovered in a vacant lot in Garcia Heights, Davao City at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Marvin’s parents said they do not know why the victim, who worked as a scavenger during his free time, was killed in such a brutal manner.

“Masakit talaga para sa akin ang nangyari sa kanya. Nanawagan akong mabigyan ng hustisya ang aking anak,” said Maricel, the victim's mother.

"Hindi ko talaga matanggap. Kung nasa harapan ko lang ang mga suspek na yan kakainin ko sila,” said Rogelio Villarte, Marvin’s stepfather.

An investigation was launched to capture Marvin’s killer.

Marvin will be laid to rest on February 20 at the Ma-a Public Cemetery. – report from Rodirey Salas, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
