MANILA, Philippines – A security detail of the mayor of Solana in Cagayan was killed in an ambush Wednesday night.

The fatality was identified as Senior Police Officer 1 Villamor Vallejo, assigned as security aide of Solana Mayor Jojo Carag.

Vallejo was shot several times on the head while on board his motorcycle in Pengue Ruyu, Tuguegarao at around 7 p.m.

Police said they recovered 16 empty shells of a carbine.
