Yet another suspect in the gruesome Maguindanao massacre last November 2009 was arrested Wednesday morning.
Joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the Maguindanao police arrested Astumi Timba in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao Wednesday.
He was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Jocelyn Solis Reyes of Regional Trial Court 221 for the crime of multiple murder (57 counts).
A P300,000 reward has been offered for Timba's arrest. He is now under the custody of ARMM CIDG for subsequent turnover to the court.
Timba's identity was confirmed by Mannie Mama Ali, a kagawad of Barangay Awang, and his eldest daughter, Arlene Talidtig Dilawanen.
On November 23, 2009, 57 people including 32 journalists and female members of the Mangudadatu political clan were brutally murdered by armed men allegedly led by former Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Sr.
Other members of the Ampatuan clan were also charged including former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Zaldy Ampatuan, former Maguindanao Governor Zaldy Ampatuan Sr., and suspended Maguindanao vice-governor Datu Akmad Ampatuan.
Out of the 195 accused in the masssacre, 86 are now under arrest while 109 others remain at large.
