Guard dead, 2 critical in Lipa heist
MANILA, Philippines – A security guard died and two others are in critical condition after armed men robbed an inn in Lipa City, Batangas before dawn on Tuesday.
Lipa City police chief Supt. Christopher Birung identified the lone fatality as Jason Zaralde, a security guard of Garanda Inn located along V. Morada Street.
Two employees, roomboy Henel Roxas, and cashier Bryan Roxas, are in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to their heads and necks.
Birung said a tricycle driver who heard gunshots from the hotel reported the incident.
Police said the robbers took off with at least P10,000.
Three empty slugs from a 9-mm pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
