MANILA (UPDATED) – At least 7 suspects were killed during a raid at a suspected drug den in Davao City on Friday morning.

Chief Inspector Elizabeth Jasmin, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) spokesperson, said policemen armed with search warrants raided a suspected "shabu tiangge" in Muslim Village in Barangay Ilang, Tibungco District at around 4 a.m.

Jasmin said combined forces from CIDG, Davao City Police, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were about to enter the suspected drug den when some of the suspects fired shots at them.

This forced authorities to fire back, killing seven men, she said.

The killed suspects were identified as Ainal Sulani, Abdul Nawang, Faizal Albahi, Wahid Sakili, Roel Morge, Bobby Solo, and Musa Sailamay.

At least 30 others, including a Korean national identified as Ki Chul Kwak, were arrested during the raid.

One of them was Rowena Yacob alias Tawing. Recovered from her were five sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia wrapped in newspaper.

Also seized from the house of a certain Abbas were two sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, a .357 revolver, and bullets which were kept inside a hole on the wall of the suspect's room.

Authorities said the drug den had been under surveillance for two months. -- Reports from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM; Rodirey Salas, ABS-CBN News Davao
