Hepatitis A on the rise in Iloilo village
ILOILO – Provincial health officials of Iloilo dispatched a team of doctors to help treat village residents allegedly infected with Hepatitis A.
At least 32 residents of a sitio in Barangay Zerrudo in Sara, Iloilo are experiencing eyes discoloration, lack of strength and diarrhea.
Blood samples were taken from the residents and brought to Manila for testing.
Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quinon said Hepatitis A is usually found in contaminated water.
The Provincial Health Office is now investigating the communal pump that supplies water to residents.
The water pump is located almost 15 meters away from villagers’ toilets and is reportedly surrounded by pig pens.
With the recent increase in the number of patients with Hepatitis A, health experts advised the public to be more careful with their drinking water and food supply.
Residents are also advised to take multivitamins to strengthen their immune system.
