4 killed in Negros Occidental bus mishap
MANILA (2ND UPDATE) – At least four people were killed and 31 others were injured in yet another bus accident in Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental on Tuesday morning.
Police said a Ceres passenger bus bound for Bacolod and a GT Lines mini-bus bound for Kabankalan City were involved in the incident, which occurred on a bridge in Barangay Pilar at around 10 a.m.
The fatalities were identified as Lowell Claudio, conductor of the mini-bus, Henry Rendon, Alfonso Jonaldo, and Wilma Medalla.
The 22-two-year-old Medalla was 3 months pregnant, according to her husband.
Data from the Hinigaran Medical Clinic showed that 31 injured passengers were rushed to its emergency room.
According to mini-bus driver Rufino Banga, his vehicle fell on its side after being rear-ended by the Ceres bus while it was trying to take over his lane.
Ceres bus driver Jonathan Maghari, meanwhile, refused to give a statement.
