Globe Asiatique victims jubilant over Lee's arrest
PAMPANGA - Victims of Globe Asiatique in Xevera, Mabalacat town in Pampanga were tearful and jubilant upon learning about the arrest of businessman Delfin Lee.
Carmen Ala bought 3 units in Xevera and paid more than P60,000 a month for a year and a half, only to find out that the land titles she was given were fake.
She also discovered that the properties she paid for already had 2 different owners.
"It was no joke working for that kind of money. Why do you enrich yourself with the hard work of others?" she said, referring to Lee.
Now, she can't even maintain the units because she isn't even sure they will be hers in the end.
She also doesn't know where her payments went.
Evelyn Niebras, who bought 2 units with a single cash payment of P1.5 million, felt she won the lottery when she saw the news of Lee's capture.
Niebras rallied together around 150 Xevera victims.
However, she said some of the victims just moved out and gave up.
Others, she said, accepted settlements from Globe Asiatique.
Niebras said she herself was offered P500,000 to drop the case, which she declined.
She said she wants Lee to answer for all their troubles. She is convinced that he orchestrated the scam.
Many houses and buildings in Xevera have been abandoned and vandalized. The Xevera amusement park is now for sale.
