Tremor felt in parts of Eastern Visayas

PALO. Leyte, Philippines – An earthquake was felt in some parts of Eastern Visayas early afternoon Tuesday.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that the Philippine fault zone is the possible source of the Magnitude 5 tremor. Ot also said the tremor was tectonic in origin.

The epicenter of the quake was located Location of the earthquake was 33 kilometers southeast of Borongan City in Eastern Samar.

Using the Phivolcs’ 10-level Earthquake Intensity Scale, the tremor was felt at Intensity 4 in Borongan, Can-avid, Llorente in Eastern Samar; Intensity 3 in Tolosa in Leyte, Tacloban City, Basey in Samar, and in areas of Eastern Samar.

It was also felt at Intensity 2 in Jaro, Carigara and Baybay City in Leyte.

Based on monitoring, no damage was reported due to the quake.
