Villar, Noynoy apologize to Quiboloy
MANILA, Philippines - The camps of presidential candidates Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Manny Villar apologized Wednesday to influential religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy for failing to attend a presidential forum of Quiboloy's church in Davao City Tuesday. In an interview, Aquino said he merely followed his doctor's advice to postpone any travel due to barosinusitis.
He said he is still looking forward to meeting the influential leader in the coming days. Aquino is currently campaigning in Pagadian City.
For his part, Villar also apologized for failing to attend the Sukatan 2010 forum despite arriving in Davao before noon Tuesday.
The Nacionalista Party candidate said he had 100 reasons for failing to attend the forum, all of which had to do with the pressures of running a presidential campaign.
Quiboloy, who heads "The Kingdom of Jesus Christ The Name Above Every Name," a group claiming to have 6 million members, earlier castigated Aquino for failing to attend the forum. Quiboloy has previously referred to himself as the "Son of God."
The pastor said the forum was supposed to take place last month, but Aquino had requested it to be moved to a different date. Aquino had promised to attend.
"Commitment is your word of honor. When you fail to meet your commitment, you have no word of honor and no honor," Quiboloy said.
He later told reporters that he was also disappointed with Villar for failing to show up in the forum.
The forum tackled various issues, including the energy crisis and the El Niño phenomenon. -- With a report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News

To the supporters of Quiboloy, you are not robots, or sheep who can easily be herded, who cant think for yourselves. you live in a democratic country where freedom is a right. If you keep insisting and believing that Quiboloy is a Son of God, tell him we are all sons and daughters of God and are all equal. Dont be so gullible and naive to believe all that he says. Pffft!
